Do not be tempted to clear the main carriageway and use the hatched markings, wait till there is space for you in the clearly marked lane. There are only 3 sets of traffic lights. Some remain green only for a brief period. Adequate progress is key at these junctions. You also need to be wary of various pedestrian crossings dotted around the town and be especially wary of jay-walkers, particularly on Market Square.
