Things to know about Tallaght Driving Test Centre Broomhill Road
The second busiest test centre in the country is found here on Broomhill Road, Tallaght.
The test centre can at times have up to 12 Examiners working which can lead to it being very busy
Parking is ample and well laid out but there is a little walk to the test centre which is fine as long as it’s not raining (maybe bring a brolly in the boot!).
Facilities are good with a nice spacious waiting room and clean toilet facilities.
Pass rates are about average here despite very varied and sometimes challenging routes.
Tallaght Driving Test Routes
Traffic can pose a problem here as there are some busy arterial routes you may be asked to drive on. There are also more 60KPH zones (potentially necessitating 5th gear) and dual carriageways than can be found at any other test centre. Areas you may be asked to drive in include Tymon, Glenside and the Cookstown/Belgard area. The manouvers including the Hillstart are often undertaken in Kilnamanagh. Progression is important here at this test centre as traffic can be heavy and it’s important to take a suitable gap when one presents. Terrain is pretty flat around Tallaght so the hill start tends not to be an issue here. Poor lane selection and lane changes can lead to faults here and anticipation is of particular importance due to a wider variety of hazards than typically found at other test centres.
